Barron SAT Subject Test Biology E/M with Online Tests Barron Test Prep Deborah T Goldberg MS Books Reviews

  • Context I have already taken a live test to gauge where I was officially and have been using this for the retake. It covers all of the possible information, but its style is not conducive to my learning and it doesn't point out test-specific pointers.
It has all the facts, plenty of small topic-specific practice tests as well as full ones, but it does nothing a full biology review wouldn't do.
It even explicitly includes data that it says will not be on the test, but lays it out there just so you know...that is a waste of time. This has caused a frustrating ordeal as I have crunch time with an upcoming test and will likely not be where I need to be (I am seeking 750+) meaning I will need to retake it one more time, this time using another study guide. While I don't blame Barron, it felt like a waste of money and their techniques simply do not work for me, so I'm stepping away from their material in favor of other prep publishers.
  • Has more than enough information to over prepare you for the Subject Test! I have taken AP Biology, and this book definitely helped me brush up on topics that I had forgotten like the exact chemical processes (phosphorylation, photosynthesis, etc.). Practice tests are helpful as well.
  • Good content, but the practice tests are useless without the answer keys.
  • Many mistakes that might cause harm to the student taking the test. For example, page 130 says that “sex-linked genes-genes on the X chromosome. MALES can be carriers while FEMALES cannot... Now I’m afraid there’s other misleading information that I will not catch.
  • Questions and concepts are 50% same as the actual test questions. I have beeen teaching SAT for over 20 years, and I know what to look for.
  • A very thorough review SAT book.
  • Good book that prepares you for actual exam.
  • Love this book! Helped me study for my biology final
